things i want to knit

GDLP

I just finished making my 2nd pair of Groove Warmers

pink and grey vertically-striped fingerless mittens

fluffy pink and white grey vertically-striped fingerless mittens

– the first with random yarn i had left (Emu Classic Aran in shade Flint, and dLana* in shade v3), and the second with the Wool and the Gang Take Care Mohair (in brilliant white and bubblegum pink) – satisfying, easy, fast, useful perfect pattern

and I was like huh I have nothing on the go now. and I sat with all the yarn ive got in a tesco plastic tub in my warddrobe, and I flicked through patterns, and I made a list of stuff I wanna knit.

  1. the Jeepers jersey

lydia is wearing a zipped up knitted racing jersey which is sleeveless

I started with What Lydia Made and actually went back so far on her instagram looking for ideas because i just very plainly love her style and would wear every single thing she wears?

when I knit something, I normally wanna be learning 1 new thing with each pattern and I have no idea how the zip comes into play. I would do this without sleeves and take 5 months deciding what to write across the chest (¿cachai? is top of my list as i write); plus love the colour combos used by this ravelry user

  1. also from lydia, the Curious Crop

lydia wears a full coverage tank top knitted with different colours and a hole over the centre of the chest

lydia wears a knitted tank top with no hole in the chest in one plain colour

because not only do i think i would wear it loads, but 1. how do you do that hole in the middle and 2. even if I don’t do the hole, I’ve never done bust shaping before and i would like to

  1. My Favourite Things cardigan no.7

a stripy cardigan in pink and purple and red tones with a big of blue and a solid pink button band

this photo is actually by a ravelry user because loads of people have been using Lang Yarns Cloud to knit the pattern and make it stripy, and i can’t stop thinking about it. Because one thing I wanna learn is how to do a cardi that doesn’t pull so tight over the buttons, yanno? and then i want to pick spectacular buttons. i would have so much fun.

  1. L’Express

a simple beige jumper but the bottom of the bottom and the bottom of the sleeves are black

this has been in my mind for a few years now. it’s so satisfying to look at. nothing to learn on this one, I just want it for myself > : )

and soooo,

looking in my tub of yarn, I have lots of good stuff but not enough of any single thing to make a full garment like this. i would need to go shopping. I have been working my way through the book Mouche & Friends that my friend got for me, and so far I’ve made this guy and a dress

between the fingerless gloves and the sheep, i’ve been making a lot of small stuff which is a nice way to use all the skeins i have that won’t go further. i will likely carry on with that until I get brave enough to make number 1 on this list. knitting is a top tier art because someone else does the hard work of figuring it out and then you get to have a go, but i still need the bravery because what if I pick the wrong colours. the world would literally end
